Tukhm-e-Sambhalu (Vitex negundo Linn.), traditionally recognized in Unani medicine as the Five-Leaved Chaste Tree, holds a prominent place due to its diverse therapeutic efficacy. Employed classically for its analgesic (Musakkin), anti-inflammatory (Muhallil), and nervine tonic (Muqawwi-e-A’sab) attributes, this plant has attracted modern pharmacological interest. Recent studies have highlighted its antioxidant, phytoestrogenic, and anxiolytic potentials. This paper explores the synergy between Unani principles and scientific research, particularly emphasizing its applications in gynecological, neurological, and inflammatory conditions.
